Betty Bentley established the Dance Academy in 1960 in Hilton Park. The Hamilton Hill Studio was opened in 1970 and since then additional branches have been opened in Willetton in 1979, Canning Vale in 1994 and most recently Port Kennedy in 1995. - Classes in Jazz Ballet, Tap, Classical Ballet, Hip Hop and Acrobatics are conducted for children from three years of age and adult classes are available in Tap and Jazz Ballet/Hip Hop at some studios.
- We understand that children take classes for a variety of reasons so we endeavour to cater for all needs from those interested in fun & fitness to the students aiming at taking examinations and performing.
- The Academy has an excellent teaching staff who are able to offer students a high level of instruction. All teachers are fully qualified with certification from The Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing, Australian Dance Association or The Royal Academy of Dancing. This is your assurance of our professionalism. Examinations are conducted through these societies each year for interested students.
- Many of our teachers have performed both in Australia and overseas giving students a wealth of experience to call upon.
- A concert is performed in December for which participation is optional.
- Holidays are taken to coincide with school holidays.
- Students are to wear the Academy uniform of (Black Academy Top with crop pants or sleeveless leotard) and shoes by the end of first term for all lessons and their examinations.The uniform can be ordered through our receptionist or the class teacher.
- Grooming is an integral part of dance. Long hair must be pulled back neatly for all lessons in a ponytail, French plait or bun.
- No jewellery to be worn at class, with the exception of ear studs.
- Punctuality is important. Students should arrive 5-10 minutes prior to scheduled class time to enable a complete warm up.
